This was a relatively complex case for our office, but the results were easy to achieve thanks to support from our CandidPro Orthodontist, Dr. Kabot. The patient’s arch development did not leave them with adequate space for their dentition, which caused severe maxillary crowding and rotations. They presented with a mix of Class III (left) and Class II (right) occlusion, a trapped mandible, and crossbite that had caused them significant discomfort.

We used the CandidPro Airway-friendly protocol to address their narrow arches and help create space for their maxillary dentition. We placed two attachments at the beginning of their treatment to facilitate vertical and rotational movements. Occlusal stops were leveraged on stages 1 and 2 to open the bite. Our team performed IPR towards the end of the aligner series to correct the patient’s overjet. The patient’s overbite was also corrected, which helped resolve their trapped mandible. 

The patient was compliant during their treatment and submitted their scans in a timely manner. At aligner step 12, the ProMonitoring AI alerted us to a noticeable unseat. We recommended that the patient stay in their stage 12 aligner for an additional week to allow the planned movement to express fully. After completing their aligners, we were satisfied with the result and fitted them for a PermaForm retainer.
